Using the "Carrefour Fotolumea mea" PHOTOBOOK Assistant, you can select a certain style for the Assistant to use when creating the photobook or create your very own style.
Start the "Carrefour Fotolumea mea" PHOTOBOOK Assistant and first select the desired photos or photo directories for your CEWE PHOTOBOOK. Once you have added the photos, click "Next" in the bottom right-hand corner. The Style Assistant will now open.

At the top beneath the progress bar is a menu with tabs for various categories, e.g. "Recreation" or "Family". When you click on the relevant tab, a preview opens up underneath that displays all of the styles that would suit the selected theme. Click on the desired style and then click "Next". The program notes this information and then applies it automatically to your CEWE PHOTOBOOK as soon as you click on "Create Now". The zoom control in the lower window area changes the view size of the thumbnails.
In the bottom left-hand corner of the window is a "More" button you can click on to download additional styles from the internet. If you have already installed the style, it will be marked with a green tick. The necessary backgrounds are installed automatically alongside most styles. You can also use these backgrounds in your CEWE PHOTOBOOK without the Assistant.
You can edit and change styles templates. If you want to check, create or change styles, there are five editor tools in the bottom right-hand corner:
If you click on this icon, a new window opens. This shows you examples of combinations of page layouts and backgrounds for the style. You can close the preview window by clicking on "OK" or "Cancel" buttons.
If you click on this icon, a new window will open up in which you can specify the details of the style to be created. If all the tabs do not fit in the program window, buttons to move backwards and forwards will appear on the right next to the tabs. You can choose from the following tabs:
In this window you can specify a name for your new style. It can then be saved under this name and will then be available later alongside the pre-installed styles. You can also write a short description of your style.
There are different categories available that you can use for the assistant to automatically order your photos on the pages of your CEWE PHOTOBOOK. Take note of the thumbnails.
Borderless and with no gap between the photos, no page background visible.
Photos in straight alignment that overlap partially or fully.
Large photos, only a small amount of page background visible. Usually with the same-sized gap to the margin and between the photos.
Page layouts with at least one angled (slightly rotated) photo placeholder. Partially overlapping at times, often looks like photos that have been "thrown on".
Photos arranged loosely across the page, lots of background of the page visible. You can choose the parameters by highlighting the selection fields. They can be freely combined with each other.
If for example "High coverage" and "Irregular" are selected together, some pages will be covered with photos to a large extent and some pages will have photos loosely arranged across them.
Here you can specify the rules according to which the Assistant should independently select the backgrounds for your CEWE PHOTOBOOK.
The foundation for the Assistant's background selection is an automatic colour analysis of your photos. This means attention will be paid as to whether the colours of the backgrounds match the colours of the photos. It is therefore possible that the Assistant does not use all the backgrounds available in the chosen style. You can swap or add to all the backgrounds in your CEWE PHOTOBOOK whenever you come to edit it.
You can choose from the following options:
- White
- Black
- All solid colour backgrounds
- Your photos as backgrounds
- All from category (with a dropdown list of the background categories currently installed)
You can choose one or several options at the same time. If you do not choose any option, all backgrounds will automatically be shown as white. Your own photo will always be chosen as a background if an event (see "The CEWE PHOTOBOOK Assistant") covers at least one double page. In all other cases, one of the other options chosen by you will be selected. You can also specify the colours and colour intensity for all multi-colour backgrounds in this window. On the right-hand side you will see a colour palette, the colours and intensity of which can be indicated on the pages like in a coordinate system.
The colour settings indicated are used by the Assistant to customise the backgrounds.
In this window you can select individual pre-prepared backgrounds for your CEWE PHOTOBOOK. In the top left-hand corner, you can choose the categories from a dropdown menu under which the backgrounds can be stored by theme. If you click on a theme, the column below will show all the backgrounds in this category. Highlight the chosen backgrounds with the mouse. Then click on the arrow on the right, and the backgrounds will appear in the right-hand column which was previously empty. Here you can create a collection of the backgrounds which the Assistant should use for your CEWE PHOTOBOOK. If you would like to remove a background from this selection, highlight it with the mouse and click on the arrow on the left.
Under this tab, you can set the width and colour of the coloured borders to be placed around the photos. Click on the "Borders around images" selection field in the top left-hand corner. This activates the coloured border settings. You can adjust the border thickness in 0.1 mm increments, i.e. if you enter "3" you will have a border of 0.3 mm and not 3 mm! If you deactivate the checkbox (untick it), a frame will not be depicted. You can set the colour of the border by clicking on the colour field. A new window will appear with a palette containing the basic colours on the left-hand side, from which you can choose a colour. On the right is the colour spectrum which you can use to mix any new colour of your choice. Simply click on the desired place in the spectrum. Alternatively, you can also enter the numerical value underneath the spectrum. Then click on "OK" in the bottom right. This defines the coloured border.
A simulated shadow will make your photos appear more animated and three-dimensional on the pages of your CEWE PHOTOBOOK. Click on the "Shadow" selection field in the top left-hand corner. This activates the shadow settings. You can set the shadow offset (distance) in millimetres. The blur creates a soft shadow border. It is limited to 25px, as a higher value is not visually effective and requires too much time to calculate. The intensity (the darkness) of the shadow is set as a percentage. If you set the intensity at 100%, the shadow is opaque black. The minimum value is 1%. The shadow is then almost transparent. Therefore the lower the percentage, the paler the shadow. The size specifies how much bigger than the photo the shadow should be. The best values are 0 (the shadow is the same size as the photo) to 6 millimetres. Using a control that you turn with the mouse, specify the direction of the shadow. You can see the effect in the large preview window on the right. Your changes will be visible straight away in this preview.
The (TrueType) fonts installed on your computer are shown in the selection area. Choose a font and use the right arrow key to select it for the photobook. It is possible to choose several fonts for your photobook. However less is often more. More than two fonts are usually not necessary, and one is often sufficient.
In the top left-hand corner is a list field to limit the display to a specific category. Select the masks and frames you want to use on the left and insert them into your style using the right arrow key. To remove a mask or frame from the style, select it on the right and click on the left arrow key. The masks and frames are used in the photobook in the order they appear in the field on the right. They are used in turn for all the photos on the inside pages.
In this window you can select clipart for your CEWE PHOTOBOOK. In the top left-hand corner you can open a dropdown menu of the categories, under which the clipart is stored by theme. If you click on a theme, the column below will show all the clipart in this category. Highlight the chosen clipart with the mouse. Then click on the arrow on the right, and the clipart will appear in the right-hand column which was previously empty. Here you can create a collection of the clipart which the Assistant should use for your CEWE PHOTOBOOK. If you would like to remove a clipart from this selection, highlight it with the mouse and click on the arrow on the left.
You can still control where the clipart appears:
Highlight a style of your choice with the mouse and then click on the "Edit" icon in the bottom right-hand corner. This will open up a new window containing all the details of the selected style.
As described in "Creating a new style", you can change the settings according to your requirements and save them under a new name.
You can duplicate a highlighted style by clicking on the "Copy" icon. Copying a style can be a good idea if you would like to use an existing style as a template for your own style, but you do not want to overwrite the original style.
If you highlight a style and then click the "Delete" icon, you will remove it from the style collection within your "Carrefour Fotolumea mea" program.
